San Francisco

15-17.APR.2002

In three days I walked nearly every inch of San Francisco, which is 7 miles across in both directions. Arriving in Oakland I took the BART train to my hostel in the Tenderloin, then checked out Chinatown. The next day I walked north from the hostel to Lombard Street, then on to Fisherman's Wharf. I then bought an official wool "watch cap" because my shaved head was freezing, having lost my other wool hat in New Orleans. From there I went west until I got to the Golden Gate Bridge, and decided to cross it while I was there. The trip back across the bridge was enough to convince me to take the bus the rest of the way home. The following day I went south to the Mission District, then west to Haight-Ashbury, on across Golden Gate Park to the ocean, then north to Lincoln Park until I was in sight of the bridge again. One more time the bus took my tired ass home.
